My name is Hannah Lahue. I’m part of the inaugural all-girl class of 2024 at Orchard Lake St. Mary’s Preparatory High school, in Orchard Lake, Michigan. I am a utility player but my primary position is CF. I am very well rounded and approachable. Im always looking for things to learn to help myself and others to improve. I have been dedicating my time and working hard to succeed at this sport, for as long as I can remember. I’ve taking several AP and college-level classes since my sophomore year.
Stepping onto campus as part of the inaugural female class after 137 years of an all-boys tradition, my peers and I carried a responsibility that increased the difficulty of high school. Facilities were being rebuilt, and curriculums reshaped. Every day felt like a new challenge, a new adjustment. We were pioneering change.
I had the unique privilege of being on the school's first softball and volleyball team. Being part of Orchard Lake St. Mary's Prep's inaugural softball team and playing at a varsity level for three consecutive years has been an experience that has molded my high school athletic journey. Along with earning All-League and All-District for my hard work and dedication. Every season with the Eaglets, from my freshman through junior year, was a testament to the grit, resilience, and persistence that our team embodied. We weren’t just playing for victories on the field; we were building a legacy from scratch.
The choice to attend the school was not just an academic decision; it was a choice to be part of something larger than myself. Every struggle was worth the lasting impact we had, not just on the school's history but on its future. Lessons I've learned from this experience about resilience, leadership, and the power of community have been and will continue to be applied to my athletic career.
