I started playing softball at the age of six and fell in love with the game right away. My earliest memory is of my Dad throwing me the highest pop-ups ever, and I just couldn't get enough. I never went anywhere without my ball and glove. Fast-forward eight years and here I am, 14 years old and hoping to play softball in college. A lot has changed in eight years, but one thing remains unchanged, I still can't get enough of this game I fell in love with as such a small girl. I currently play for the 14U Foster Oilers Travel Team out of St. Clair MI and am looking forward to playing on the State Champion Richmond Blue Devils High School Team next year. I became very interested in pitching about 1 ½ years ago. My mom found my current pitching coach, Marc Gillis and I have worked very hard to become a competitive pitcher. I love seeing the progress I've made over the years. I would say that's another reason I love this game. With hard work, progress is made. I'm a living example of this.
My coaches and teammates see me as a leader. Not because I'm a coaches kid, but because I'm always upbeat. As a pitcher, I feel it is a necessity to be a leader. Happiness is contagious but so is negativity. If I'm struggling to throw a pitch and my team sees that I'm having a bad day I have to remember to slow down, take a deep breath and think about my next pitch. I have to remember not to dwell on the negative but focus on the positive. This is why I think I would be described as a leader.
I'm pretty sure I speak for everyone when I say I want a coach who will push me but I also want a coach who I know I can talk to, not one I fear. I want a coach that will treat me like a player and a person. One I can goof around with but take seriously at the same time. One who when I make a mistake won't punish me but help me understand what I'm doing wrong. I want to play softball in college at the highest level of competition that will provide the best fit for me and my career goals.
