Hey coaches, I'm Kaitlyn Foster, a class of 2023 catcher, outfielder/infielder with 3 years of eligibility left after this season.
My ultimate goal is to reach the highest level of softball I am able to play, and excel at it. I'm looking for competition that allows me to be the best player I can be.
As a player, my best attribute is my game IQ. I am a student of the game and I believe this knowledge is the most important part of softball. I'm the player that will run down a girl from behind the plate, catching them between first and second. Or make that trick play with runners on first and third. I live for playing the game beyond it's basic foundation. I acknowledge there is more to being a catcher than making the pitcher look good. Skills can be taught, but game IQ is something you have or you don't, which is why I make it my priority to stand out with this skill.
I also do my best in the classroom, as it's more important than the sport. I maintain a 3.9 GPA throughout my third semester of college while also being a two sport athlete (basketball and softball). I am currently achieving my AA degree, which I'll have at the end of this term. At my next school, along with playing softball, I plan to study Medicine.
I currently play for Saint Cloud Technical and Community College, where I will begin my season this spring for the first time. I was out last year due to a broken/shattered/dislocated finger a few weeks before the season, and am still overcoming this injury, though it's almost fully healed. Since the initial injury, I have gained significant overhand velocity and exit velocity after dedicating all my "recovery time" to training. If I've learned one thing from this adversity, it's that I can do hard things.
Coaches: thank you for taking time out of your day to read this!
