Hi! My name is Alexandra (Alex) Golz and I’m a 5’ 9’’ speed player from Rosemount, Minnesota who has been playing softball since fifth grade. I am a junior (class of 2021) from Visitation School and have been a part of my school’s varsity team since eighth grade. As a JV call-up in eighth grade, I served as a pinch-runner for the team that was conference and sectional champions and who went to the state tournament that year. As a freshman, I started in five different positions throughout the year and served as a utility player for any spot my team needed me to fill. As a sophomore, I was the starting center fielder for our team, who was the sectional champions and went back to the state tournament. I have also played club softball every Summer and Fall for the Visitation Victorians, St. Paul North Area Rookies, the Minnesota Waves, and Minnesota Stars where I currently play. As I have mentioned, I am a versatile player whose main position is second base, but I am also a strong shortstop and outfielder.
In the classroom, I have maintained an above 4.0 average through every semester of high school, and I currently have a 4.15 GPA. I have been on my school’s high honor roll both semesters of freshman and sophomore year and the first semester of junior year. For extracurriculars, I have been a part of my school’s math team, science club, Spanish club, art club, and women activists. I also babysit for several families and volunteer at a homeless shelter called Friends of Dorothy Day.
I am looking for a school with very strong academics, especially in the STEM fields. I am very interested in pursuing a career in health and medicine or science, math, and technology in general, more specifically something having to do with chemistry or engineering. I am from the Midwest and have lived here most of my life, but I am open to going somewhere further away if the opportunity arises. I am also looking for a smaller school with no more than 10,000 undergrad students and I am open to playing any division level.
As for my goals, I want to start playing college softball as a freshman and I want to be able to make an impact wherever I go; because I love the game and I am dedicated to my team and improving my skills on and off the field. I always want to be a positive influence on those around me and I work every day to be a strong player who my team can rely on. It has been my dream to play softball in college and I really hope that I get the opportunity to do so!
