My name is Kayla Shaffer, I am a sophomore at Blaine High School in Blaine, MN. The purpose of this statement is to express my desire and passion to pursue softball at the next level. I full understand that academics are the most essential element of college and I have proven I can have academic success while being a multisport athlete. I have made the honor roll each trimester of my high school career.
I have been playing softball since I was 6 years old. I have learned many qualities along the way such as leadership, time management, caring for my team, determination, confidence and so much more. I have had the honor of playing at a very high level with my club team, the Minnesota Moose. I am currently on the Minnesota Moose 15U Orange team. Through extra training and dedication to practice on my own time, I have developed into a power hitter, hitting 20 home runs to date. I am a versatile player, catching, playing first base and outfield.
My team and I have worked together and have had a strong Summer and Fall season. As a 15U fall team we finished 2nd at the 16U Perfect Game Showcase and 3rd in the top tier of 16U Fall State. As a 14U team (Minnesota Moose 14U Orange) this summer, we got 2nd in the Platinum bracket of NAFA Nationals, making it to the last 6 teams of the Great Lakes Nationals, 2nd at Top Tier State, first in the Big Opener, as well as doing well it the S&C Showcases.
