Hi Coaches,
My name is Lillian Guidry, and I am a varsity starting catcher with a secondary position as a third baseman, graduating in 2025. To be completely honest, I only began playing softball in the spring of 2023 after a friend convinced me to join my high school team. Since then, I have fallen in love with the sport and have been playing year-round non-stop.
In less than a year, I tried out for my club team, 612, in February 2024 and made it onto their highest-level high school team, 612 HS Navy. In my first season playing for my high school, I started as a catcher because the team needed one, and I was willing to give it a try. I quickly learned the many aspects of the position and ended up being named MVP and received an All-Conference Honorable Mention after just a few months of playing.
Softball isn't my only passion. I have also been playing varsity tennis for the past four years and held the number one spot on my team last year. Additionally, I am deeply involved in visual arts, such as drawing and painting, and I take PSEO classes at Minneapolis Community and Technical College (MCTC) to earn both high school and college credits, as my school does not offer IB or AP classes.
You might wonder, "Why softball now?" Before high school, I played soccer year-round from the age of four until eighth grade. However, I fell out of love with it during the COVID-19 pandemic. When I entered high school, I knew I still wanted to play a sport, but not soccer, so I took up tennis. While I enjoyed tennis, I missed the team aspect, the encouragement, team building, and working together—elements that I found again in softball, which is why I love playing it now.
Regarding college, I'm aiming for a D3 or NJCAA school that is somewhat small and has a good feel to it. My plan is to study Social Work or Counseling, focusing on mental health in schools. I am excited for what my future brings me and whats to come.
Thank you for your time,
Lillian
