Personal Statement

I am currently a sophomore at Southwestern Community College in Creston, IA and hope to transfer to a 4-year university for softball and marine biology after this season with the Spartans and Coach Danny Jensen.

I have been an all-around athlete since I was very young.  I have played/started in local t-ball, soccer, softball, and basketball; middle school football, middle school basketball, and middle school track; high school softball, high school basketball, and high school track.  I am also a very dedicated student with a 3.89 GPA and I was active in Future Farmers of America (FFA) where I was also an officer my junior and senior year.

I had played competitive softball from age 8 to 18.  I moved to a gold-level team when I was 15 because I was serious about playing softball at the college level.

I am a great team-player.  I make friends easily and love my teammates like family.  I understand the game of softball from all aspects of the field.  I have a high softball IQ.  I work hard, support my teammates, and strive to make the entire team better.

My schedule is very busy, so I feel that I am preparing for the great demands that a college athlete must endure to be able to succeed as a student-athlete at a higher level

After my college softball career, I look forward to a career as a marine biologist where I will live by the ocean and work with the creatures I love.

I want to enjoy every minute of my time left at SWCC, but I look forward to being able to compete at a higher level and continue my biology degree after this year.
