Kelly Ross '28 Recruiting Profile

Hi! I am Kelly Ross from Basking Ridge, New Jersey! I have been playing softball since I was seven years old. I have always thought of softball as more than just a game. It has been a way for me to experience life lessons, meet new people, try new experiences, and most importantly learn more about myself. Being one of the smaller players on the team, I feel that I am able to bring a new aspect to the game that many overlook. I am able to regain all those things that people think they may have on me with my mind, my hard work and my intangibles. Because all that matters is if you play big, and I do. By me having sharp mental and situational awareness, I am able to make myself that inch bigger or that second faster because I know what I have to do in those high-pressure situations not just to preform but to succeed. By also having the level of dedication and determination that I have, I am able to set myself apart and really know what has to get done to be that 1% better every day. I am dedicated and take great pride in my hitting. I try to make sure that all the details and my performance are where I expect them to be, and I will take nothing less than that. I also take pride in being coachable, I am not one to shy away from criticism because, at the end of the day, that is what is going to make you better. Performing at the collegiate level would just be a dream come true because whenever I am pushing myself to get better that 1% better, I know that this is what it takes to be an elite player and to play among the best. Ever since I was little, I have always loved sharing my passions to anybody who would listen. That has what has really inspired to become a teacher and to be able to share my passion of history and my knowledge to young minds who will want to listen and learn. Hopefully, I can also channel that passion into landing a job as a softball coach so I can share my advice and love of softball to future generations of the game.
