My name is Destiny Medina and I am 5'4 catcher/utility player. I have always been dedicated and a hard worker to Softball almost my entire life. I started playing softball when I was four years old, ever since I had picked up that bat and threw that ball for the first time I knew in my heart that I wanted to play this game for as long as I could. I always try my best every single day to improve my mechanics, strength and technique no matter how long it takes as I aspire to play at a collegiate level . I believe that I am a hard worker on and off the field and know to respect the game that I have always admired. I always try my best to be mentally and physically prepared for every single play that I make, whether it's practice or a game. I attend Frank J. Cicarell High School as a graduate of 2023 and have a 4.3 GPA. Softball has always been a big part of my life and it has made me who I am today. This sport has taught me many lessons over the years, I have failed so many times but that only taught me to get back up and come back stronger than ever. At the end of the day I am a better hitter, runner, fielder, and teammate because I learn and adapt. As Softball has been apart of my life for so long now I have been able to meet people who push me to become a better player and person, without them I wouldn't know where I would be today.
In addition to Softball, academics are also of high importance to me. I want to attend a college that will challenge me academically as well as one that helps me down a path to pursue a promising career. I have always been identified as gifted, and placed into a special program that was able to enhance my learning to set me up for further academic accolades. In high School, I am enrolled in all honors classes and maintain straight A's. School has taught me so many valuable lessons that I have also been able to apply to softball, such as working hard, helping others, and being mentally tough. In both school and softball I am highly competitive to be a great student and be very skillful. I am not only a strong academic candidate but also an athlete who is highly coachable, competitive, and a team player, that will no doubt add value to your school.
