Strap on 30 pounds of gear. Throw your body around to keep every ball within arm’s reach. Collect bruises and laces like some collect tattoos. React correctly to thousands of different situations with lightning quickness. Play the role of psychologist to your partner on the mound. Leader. That’s a catcher. While a dominant pitcher may be the most important roster spot, no position can make or break a team like the position of catcher. Third base is fun. If you need a first baseman, sure, no problem. But, there’s no place on the field I’d rather be, than behind the plate. That is my home and my happy place. I can hit a little bit, too. With my Junior year about to be completed, I've earned distinguished honors three consecutive years. I scored a 1330 on my SAT (690 Math, 640 Verbal) and a 31 on the ACT. I was the only freshman to make the varsity softball team last year. As a sophomore, I was behind the plate for every pitch thrown in 2018. As a junior, i finished the regular season with a .440 batting average, .683 slugging, and set the school record for runners caught stealing. I work very hard, on my defense, on my hitting, and on my academics. I am most interested in finding a college with a good engineering program where I will also have an opportunity to play softball.
