I have played softball since the age of four. From the start, the game has been my passion. Over the years I have learned to play all positions whenever there was a need for my team. I enjoy being part of a team and find joy in the game. I understand plays and can predict where and when the ball should be within a moments notice. If you were to ask me my favorite position, it would be catcher. I love presenting an example of a leader to my younger team mates on the team. I enjoy encouraging my team mates and having a whole perspective of the entire field.
I think of myself as an all around athlete. I enjoy many sports and have encountered a variety including field hockey, lacrosse, and basketball. In high school, my sports are field hockey, basketball and softball.
I pride myself in my academic achievements. I am in four honors classes and one advance class. At my high school, honors classes are the highest level of available classes for a freshmen to take. I hold an overall GPA of 4.26 out of 4.33 and in my academic classes my GPA is currently a 4.02 (March 2019). I am currently in the third marking period. For the first two I am very proud to share that I received distinguished honors.
I normally am not one to boast about my achievements or athletic abilities, however, it seems like this would be the section where I am required to "brag" a bit. I would say I am a warm, genuine, honest and caring person. I am the type of person to put someone else before my own needs. I am pretty much always happy and smiling. I enjoy seeing others happy too. I care about my friends and how they feel. I will always be there even when they feel they don't need me. I step up and help out in class whenever I can. I have fun helping the special needs students in my gym class. We have become close friends since the beginning of the school year. If you ask my gym teacher, he will say, I am their biggest cheerleader.
My life goal is to become a pediatrician. I have a love for kids. I grew up in a blended home of six children and I am the second oldest. My family is a modern day "Brady Bunch" including the dog, "Tiger." My step mom and my mom are involved in the medical field. My mom is a pediatric occupational therapist and special education teacher. My step mom is a nurse and while she was in school I was intrigued by the human body. They have inspired me to choose the field of pediatrics and medicine.
My father and stepmother live in Massachusetts, while my Mom and Step Dad are in New Jersey. My dad and stepmom try their best to drive down every other weekend to New Jersey to see my sisters and I. Typically every holiday, my little sisters and I drive with our dad to Massachusetts to spend time with our family there.
What I really want you to gain from this personal statement is that I am highly motivated to do whatever it takes to be the best softball player, team player for your school.
