I’ve been playing softball for a little over 5 years. I love that softball is a sport where teamwork is essential to succeed. I always love that it’s not only a sport of physical ability but mental ability as well. Playing on a team is like having a second family. You are always together, but sometimes you might but heads with them and that’s okay. My favorite position to play is first base. I love that a first baseman’s job isn’t just to receive balls from other positions or just to field the ball in general but to be always aware as to what’s going on. Whether it’s someone stealing or calling out plays sometimes the first baseman won’t be needed in certain situations and is able to pay attention to little details that not every player on the field will be able to notice. Although outfield is not my favorite position to play I love going out there and helping my team out. I always try my best to be optimistic when playing because I believe that how you think you’re going to play is how you’re going to play. For example, if you wake up and you have the attitude of "I suck", or "I’m not good enough", you’re more susceptible to making an error because you lack the confidence to help you succeed. Not only does going to practice physically and doing drills improve your skill level, but being mentally skilled is what will help you in the long run. Outside of softball some of my favorite things to do is cook. Cooking for me is so cool because there are so many different things you can do. There are always many ways to cook something and there isn’t a wrong answer as to how you want to cook something. It allows you to be creative and to have fun while expressing yourself in the kitchen. When I graduate high school I want to pursue a career in teaching, because helping people is always something I wanted to do but I also know that I want to coach softball. Being a teacher allows me to help people as well as coach softball. My goal is to help people become better versions of themselves and to understand that being different than the person next to you is normal.
