My name is Loralye Anthony and I am 16 and in 11th grade at the Waverly High School. While I do not know all that the future holds for me, I intend to pursue a career in the field of nursing. I have had the opportunity to meet many nurses in many different areas, and I am inspired by the care they provide for those in need. Someday I hope to be able to care for others.
Academics have not always come easily for me, but no one works harder that I do in the classroom. My drive and motivation have always pushed me past any challenge that I faced.
I have played as a starter on the varsity softball team since I was a freshman, and I played on the JV team while I was in 7th and 8th grade. I spend my summers playing with my travel softball team. I have spent time in center field, but my biggest strengths are in the infield, where I have played shortstop, 3rd base, and spent time on the mound. I have 5 different pitches and love the strategy of figuring out the best way to approach each batter. I take pride in being a coachable player, and have always been willing to play wherever my team needs me. I try to be a leader on my team in both effort and attitude. I am quick to offer a word of encouragement to a teammate who needs it, but I am fiercely competitive. I believe it is important to know how to win, and equally important to know how to lose and to learn from it.
I also spend time in the gym power lifting, which makes me stronger both physically and mentally. I play on the varsity soccer team in the fall.
