Growing up I played a number of different sports, from gymnastics to martial arts. I have always been in the sports world and each time I left a sport behind it was in search of that one that really spoke to me. That's when I began playing baseball. For a while I really believed that baseball was that sport, until I came to high school. My freshman year I decided to try out for both the baseball and softball teams. I made the decision to go to the softball workouts instead of the baseball ones because I had never played softball before and felt like I should get more work in there. However, this led to me to begin to drift away from baseball entirely. I fell in love with the people, the atmosphere and most importantly the sport.
Before I joined the softball team I had a lot of issues with confidence, in both my body and in myself, basically everything about myself. I was very introverted, had minimal friends, and dressed to hide my body. However, once I came to high school, and specifically when I joined the softball team began to transition into who I am now. I'm no longer the one who wants to ask a question but doesn't, and waits for someone else to ask. Instead now not only will I ask that question, but people are likely to direct their question tome. Softball was such a huge part of this change, the sport and the people, made me realize that I like the person I am and what I look like.
I'm not ready to have my softball career end with high school. It's too big a part of my life to let it end just yet. I hope to find a school with a softball program where I can flourish and support those in it with me, while offering a fairly strong academic program to help me to pursue my desired career in forensic science. I'm not afraid to put in the work and as much effort as I can possibly exert at any given time.
