Hello, my name is Sophia Ziegler. I currently attend Columbia High School, and will graduate in the year of 2026. Both on the field and in the classroom, I am hard working, never give up, and understand the importance of communication. In addition, I am honest with my parents, coaches, teammates and most importantly with myself. With that self-awareness and honesty I am able to identify my strengths and weaknesses and know that through hard work and dedication I can always improve. When faced with challenges, I put in the extra work to overcome and persevere. For example, taking Math 1 in 8th grade, I used much of my spare time finding and using outside sources to learn the concepts and material. I would then take that knowledge and tutor my classmates.
I have been recognized for my academic achievement in receiving the President's award last year and have earned Principals List this year. While the academic awards are appreciated, I am most proud of being recognized and awarded the Citizenship Award. I cherish my friends and family and never take them for granted and I am always willing to help anyone.
I know how precious life is and how valuable every moment and interaction is. Throughout my life I have always been able to overcome challenges, by pushing forward and overcoming. At three years old I was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called "LCH ". I went through two cycles of chemotherapy and several surgeries. This experience taught me that I have the ability to push through all challenges or obstacles that stand before me. While some people may let this type of situation bring them down, it taught me to always keep a positive mindset. During this period, I still strived to help others and created fundraisers (Sophia's Cupcakes) for the Janet Weiss Children's Oncology unit raising $10,000. In February of 2021 I was considered cleared, and my case was closed- without question, my life's greatest accomplishments.
Being on your team I will bring that same dedication, fight, leadership, and citizenship/responsibility to game day, practice, locker room, classroom, school, and your community.
Thank you for taking time to read a little about me and I look forward to speaking with you.
Sincerely,
Sophia Ziegler
