My name is Mary Sales and I am in the graduating class of 2024. I grew up in a small town in Cincinnati Ohio where I still currently live. My parents are from Guatemala and they were busy working while I was growing up. I helped raise my now 8 year old brother and watched a few of my nephews as well. It wasn't until my freshman year of high school that I really got involved in sports. My school didn't have many sports for younger grades but I did play basketball one year in middle school. My Alegbra teacher was the softball coach my freshman year and told me to come play for the team. I was hesitant at first but softball changed my life. I fell in love with the sport and found an outlet to get away from anything going on in the outside world. I ended up making first team all conference my freshman year, my first year ever playing the sport. That fall the same coach asked me to play volleyball for the school as well and I tried out for a club softball team. I made varsity volleyball playing for my first year as sophomore and I made the Reds RBI softball team for the next summer. Sports became something that I absolutely loved, and my happy place.
I will be going into my Junior softball season this year and I could not be more excited. This past summer I got to play in tournaments and talk to a few college coaches. I realized that I would love to be able to further my education while also playing a sport that I love. I want to study business and go to a school somewhere a few hours from home.
I would love to play for a coach that is dedicated and understanding, someone who is competitive and builds a family atmosphere. My sports teams become my family each season and I want to have that when I am away at school. I will work hard and promise to be coachable. I have been through a lot in my life and come a long way. I want to continue to get better at sports, academics, and just being a good friend, player, and person.
