My name is Nia Polzin and I'm a 5'9" hardworking pitcher and softball player. I have had a passion for softball since I was 7 and I am still truly dedicated to this sport. I'm an athlete who works on every part of my game from pitching to my overall strength and agility. My most important accomplishments were being chosen as the MVP for nationals in Branson and making varsity as a freshman this year. I have shown that I can handle pitching in games with girls who are 4 years older than myself. I have pitched 3 shutouts so far, my freshman year.
Knowing that I'm more than capable of handling the pressure and playing softball in college makes me more passionate for this sport. I have lead by example on my travel team by showing no emotion while pitching and supporting every girl on our team. What I can offer to your team is the promise to always work hard, put in the extra time needed and never give up. I am the first to every game and most often the last to leave. I am passionate about winning and love the competition.
I am not overly concerned of the division level; I just want to play at the next level and be on the field with a confident and aggressive team. I am willing to put whatever it takes in becoming the best softball player I’m capable of being. I fully understand and agree that academics are the most essential element of college but I believe that being part of a softball team creates life long bonds and teamwork.
When it comes to choosing what school, I would like to go to, my options can vary. I mainly am looking at Southern states (Oklahoma, Texas, Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Tennessee, etc.) but I am very open to going anywhere. I am open minded about colleges and hope to just find a college that fits me best. It doesn't matter about the size or location; if I can receive a good education and play softball I will be happy. My top two choices for a major as of right now is either Journalism or Marine Biology. However, my major may change over the course of the rest of my high school career.
My realistic athletic goals are to continue playing the sport I love at a high competition level. Another goal of mine is to make an impact on everyone I play with and any little girls just starting out. Knowing that I have made a positive impact and pushed myself to be the best would keep a smile on my face.
