2021 Spotlight Personal Statement
Above all things, I describe myself as a hard-worker on and off the field. When I set a goal, I do not stop until I reach it, whether it’s getting an A on my next test or better my batting average and I am always pushing to be better the next day. Softball is my life, and I would be on the field all day, every day if I could. Unfortunately, I know that my softball career will eventually come to an end. This is why I make sure to learn everything I can in the classroom, maintain a solid 3.96 GPA and score well on my ACT. I always leave everything on the field and I can't wait to play at the next level!

- Katie continues to show as a prospect on the field with improvements in her softball abilities. At the plate, hitting / power potential have improved through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. She stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. She has a great tournament, going 8 for 14 with 2 2B. In the IF, defensive abilities are now well above average as she displays proper footwork and attacks balls, playing through with her body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. She moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as she is very coachable and works hard to be the best player she can be.

- Katie is a lean outfielder who will graduate in 2022. In the outfield she displays smooth, clean actions. She takes proper routes and angles in tracking down balls, but needs to work to get behind and play through with momentum to her target. Range will increase as she continues to improve foot quickness. Throws are accurate and will benefit by building more armstrength through a long-toss program. At the plate, she shows an open athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swingpath. She makes consistent hard contact through a line drive approach, spraying the ball to all fields. Power will increase as she utilizes her lower half more efficiently. With two years to further develop, Katie has potential with time and room to improve her game.
