Hi! My name is Amara Lowe, I’ve played softball for about 10 years and have been in love with the sport since I was in pre-school. Growing up I had the privilege of watching my older sister play softball and decided then and there it was the sport for me. Since then, it has been my dream to play softball at the highest level possible and being a collegiate athlete.
Throughout my softball journey I’ve learned the importance of leadership, mental toughness, and the ability to be a team player. The softball community within my town is very small and I have had to adapt and play whatever position is needed for my team’s success. At the start of my softball journey, I envisioned myself being a catcher however as my season progressed, I very quickly learned that my softball program needed a pitcher to be successful and I haven’t stopped pitching since!
Despite pitching for about 10 years, I would consider myself a well-rounded player. My secondary position, and favorite position is third base. As a player I strive to do my very best for my team and dedicate my time to working hard to achieve my goals.
I consider my work ethic and motivation to be my best assets both on and off the field. As a player I’ve been nominated as my team’s most improved, awarded the 2024 Softball Coaches Award, and was given honorable mention by the league as a pitcher in my freshman year. This same motivation follows me into the classroom, as I strive to maintain good grades and pursue leadership opportunities. With 150+ hours of community service, I’ve been able to find my passion in helping others and created a whole new dream; living a life where I can help as many people as possible.
I want to attend a college where I can pursue both my softball and career dreams at once. Ultimately, I want to major in Psychology while continuing down a pre-med track. My grades have always been very important to me, and as a collegiate athlete I hope to find the perfect balance of academic rigor and athletic competitiveness. Lastly in college I want to find community; the best softball teams are the ones that feel like family. As an athlete I value being on a team that genuinely cares for one another, and I hope to find this within a college team as well.
