My name is Paisley Rains, and I’m a 5’4”, left handed, slap hitting, left fielder from Silverton, Oregon. I’ll graduate from Silverton high school in 2025. I’ve been playing softball since I was 6 years old. I fell in love with being on the field when I first picked up a bat. I’ve played many different positions over the years, but I’ve found my home in the outfield. I like playing either of the corner outfield positions, but I really love left field. I like that I can use my speed to cover ground and make the plays I need to, to help my team win.
When I started playing competitive travel softball at the age of 12, I learned how to be a slap hitter. Since I’m a left handed hitter, and fast out of the box to 1st base, I thought it would be a good skill to have. As I’ve grown older and progressed in the level of competition my team faces, it has been a valuable addition to what I offer my team at the top of, or wherever the team needs me in the batting order.
My goal is to become a student athlete when I go to college. College has always been a must for me, and I want to continue playing softball while I attend school. My parents have always had the “School first, activities and sports second” rule in our house. I’ve been able to maintain a 4.0 GPA all through school, up through the 9th grade. All while playing softball, taking multiple dance classes, and helping watch my 5 siblings. I’ve played soccer and basketball over the years, but softball has been my passion.
Other than softball, I have a love for dance. I’ve taken ballet and dance classes since I was 4 years old. I currently take Ballet, Modern, Pointe, and Jazz dance classes. If I’m not playing softball, or dancing, I like to spend time with my friends and family. I enjoy participating in a local Christian youth group here in my amazing hometown too.
I want coaches to know that if I’m chosen to be on their team, they will get a driven, highly coachable, and positive player. I’ve learned to celebrate the highs and to learn from the lows. Not only in softball, but in life. Being the oldest child has taught me to be a leader. At the same time, it has taught me to share the spotlight, not seek out being the center of attention, and that sometimes it’s ok to take a step back and just cheer your family/friends/teammates on.
Thank you for taking the time to learn a little more about me.
