I would be a valuable member of any team. For one I have a love of the game, Two I am always trying to better my skills. I have been playing since I was in machine pitch. I tried Soccer, but it just wasn't for me. I started my career playing 3rd base. Once I found that my heart belonged behind the plate I ran with it.
I take catching lessons once a week during the off season, once the High School season starts I squeeze them in when I can. My travel ball coach supports my effort to get better with my lessons and excuses me from practice for that night. This is the first year that I have tried out for travel ball. I made the team, but it was a very disappointing season. I went from being the starting catcher in H. S, to the back up. Which is pushing me to better myself. I also play a little first base and through travel I am playing second base too.
I just want to play the game, I would love to be behind the plate, but know I have a role in every team. I will go where ever I am needed, and work at being good at that position.
As far as academics go, I know that needs a little work. My goal now is to be a student athlete in college. I know that means working harder on my grades. I am going to put as much effort in to that this year as I do softball.
