My name is Catherine Stone, and I am a senior at Unionville High School in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania. Since fifth grade, I have been a two-sport award winning athlete, playing softball and tennis; and I have played varsity softball and tennis the last four seasons. During my Fall senior season, I was a co-captain for the 2022-23 girls' tennis team and we won the league and district championships while finishing second in the State PA 3A championships. With the tennis season complete, I'm especially excited about my final season for softball and training.
In May, I completed my high school junior year of varsity softball and finished with a .425 batting average, leading my team in hitting, stolen bases, and other offensive categories. My season featured a 16-game hitting streak, and my post season honors included a selection to the 2nd team All Chesmont League and the Daily Local News All Area 2nd team as an outfielder.
In June, I was selected to compete in the Carpenter Cup sponsored by the Philadelphia Phillies and Nike. This 31-team tournament featured some of the top high school softball players in the region. It was an honor to represent Chester County while competing against a collection of all-star caliber teams in the region.
In college, I intend to study athletic training or physical therapy. I have a 4.0+ grade point average, play the violin, and am a National Honor Society member. I strive to be a well-rounded, balanced person with interests outside of sports, including reading and cooking. I'm a good candidate for a collegiate softball team because of my strong work ethic, excellent atheticism, and proven performance. I am a people-person who is willing to put in the hard work that comes with joining a high-level performance sports team. I enjoy being part of a team where I can support and learn from others. Playing on a team is fun and one of the main reasons I'm pursuing softball instead of tennis in college!
Last Summer, I was a team leader in many offensive categories for the Coatesville Lady Steel, which included several returning college softball players and it reinforced my intent to play softball at the collegiate level. I love to compete and know my best softball is in front of me. I enjoy learning new things and learning from others, and I hope you'll consider me to be part of your program as a student athlete who'll bring high character and all the attributes of a great teammate.
I look forward to hearing more from you!
