My name is Rebecca Davis. I am a 11th grader at Mount Lebanon High School in Pittsburgh, PA. One of my goals as a future collegiate athlete is to play on a highly competitive team. As a passionate athlete, I've continuously noticed that I hate the feeling of losing, more than I love feeling of winning. On whichever team I end up playing for, I'll bring my best, positive, and optimistic self as college softball has been a dream of mine since I was little.
I have learned how to manage playing sports while also always holding good grades. Through multiple levels in different classes, I have always maintained a competitive GPA.
I want to major in Elementary Education. I believe this major will suit me partly because of the lessons softball has taught me. My dad has always enforced his five core values in a person/athlete. Sportsmanship has always been #1. Being positive and staying positive on and off the field is #2. Always putting in 100% is #3."Next play" and learning the ability to accept previous play, whether it was good or bad, and focus on the next play is #4. And 5th is execute. If a one knows what to do in a difficult situation, not just limited to softball, but in everyday life, they are no use if they can't execute it. Each of these apply to softball but more importantly, life. In an elementary classroom, I would have the abilities to teach and enforce these values with my students. Softball has primarily taught me to work with others, communicate, and remain in a positive mindset.
I have been blessed with the opportunities to play for multiple national teams. (USSSA All-American Direct Invite representing the Northeast, SY All-American, SY Elite, and Prospect teams.) As I've been given the chance to play on these teams with all kinds of different people, I have been able to develop my skills on the social side of being a good teammate.
