With only one year of highschool left, I'm drawn to thinking about what comes next for my future--attending college and playing softball.
My softball story began when I was just six years old playing machine pitch baseball with boys. At eight, I switched to softball in a neighboring town. After many years of being a utility player for Somerset Rec. League softball, I decided to take my passion further by committing myself to a travel team called the Laurel Highlands Lady Knights when I was eleven years old. Three years passed and I decided that I wanted to take a bigger step by joining an 18u travel team. At fourteen, I tried out and began playing for the Laurel Highlands Intensity 18u. During this time, I also played for the Rockwood Varsity Softball Team as a starter and eventually lettered both my Freshmen & Sophomore years. During the 2018-2019 school year, my highschool team earned the title District 5 Runner Up and advanced to the first round of state playoffs. I was lead-off batter and was proud to earn the first hit of the game even though we did not prevail. That summer, I played travel ball for another 18u team after my Intensity team dissolved--the new team was the Laurel Highlands Chill. I played for them again this past season. This fall, after missing our highschool season due to Covid-19, I joined a new team--the Lady Reapers out of Uniontown, PA. My main positions for both high school and travel remain pitcher, outfield, and second base.
After playing multiple positions for multiple coaches, I've learned how much I've personally grown as not only a player, but as a person. I've learned more than just the game, I've learned discipline and teamwork. My hope is to continue my play throughout the last year of highschool, in the fall and summer on my travel league, and eventually in college.
Outside of my softball aspirations, I'm a Scholar Athlete recipient, and member of the National Honor Society and the French Honor Society. I'm the Junior Class Secretary for the Class of 2021. Sophomre year I qualified for State FBLA in the graphic design category competing in Hershey. I was also a National qualifier my Freshman, Sophomore, and Junior years in Forensics competing in Washington DC and Wisconsin. Unfortunately, this past year, my trip to Chicago Nationals was canceled due to Covid-19.
I currently volunteer with Lazarus's Gate, a local food bank in Rockwood. In past years I volunteered with the Somerset Jaycees and their many good causes.
Personally, I enjoy traveling and had the good fortune to attend a school sponsored trip to Montreal and Ontario with my French class this past summer.
In addition to softball, I play volleyball for Rockwood's Varsity team and have lettered in it, participate in band and chorus, and take private piano lessons and pitching lessons. I take dual enrollment college courses through Allegany College of Maryland and St. Francis University. Finally, I work at CVS and I enjoy spending time with family and friends whenever possible.
