Personal Statement

My softball journey started when I was six playing tee ball with my brother on coed teams.  I was hooked at that point and have been playing ever since.  Playing many sports such as soccer, basketball, swimming, and softball at a young age helped me realize the value of teamwork early.  In addition, it has shown me different qualities that I posses such as leadership and work ethic.  Many of my team mates, both younger and older, will at times come to me for advice and motivation.  Although there are many areas that I need to continue to improve, one that I will be focusing on is leaving a bad play or bad at bat behind me and using it as a learning opportunity.

Some goals I have for my high school career are to maintain my high honor roll grades and join National Honor Society.  This will allow me to obtain academic scholarships along with any athletic scholarships I might earn to start my college career.  Additional goals will be to continue to advance my skills by attending various softball clinics to improve areas such as fielding, hitting, base running, and nutrition in order to become a better student, player and person, as well as continue to work hard at practice and on my own so I can help my high school and travel team win games.

  • the Nook Softball Academy coaching staff will be adopting the model where teams in each age group work together to create a family of athletes spanning multiple teams. Started in the 2017-2018 season with our Nook Gold and 18U Elite teams, the teams in each age group will share coaches, practices, and skill sets to maximize efficiency, development, and create a fun family-style growth environment for the athletes. Teams will work together, instead of competing independently of each other. On the field, they will be separate, but in the Nook program they will share successes and approach challenges and learning opportunities as a group. Coaches will continue to work together as a Nook Softball Coaching Staff as well, never being satisfied and always learning for the athletes in our program.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
