Hi, my name is Samantha Grace Tilson. I am a 2022 upcoming graduate of Cherokee High School in Rogersville, Tennessee. I have maintained a 4.0 GPA and have challenged myself with mostly Honors courses..
Softball has been an important aspect of my life since I was approximately nine years old and was told, by a relative of my then Coach, that I should never step on the field again. This same person also told me that I should “go ahead and quit” because “softball wasn’t for” me. From that point on, I have worked and put sweat, tears, and blood into the sport that I have fallen in love with.
During my freshman year of high school, I had an injury to my left hand, requiring surgery. My doctors and surgeon treated me with the best care and cared more about my health than about me getting back on the softball field. I will never forget the moment my doctor looked me in the eyes and told me that he wants me to be able to play with my kids one day, not just play one game.
Due to my injury, I was unable to play softball my entire freshman year, which was devastating to me and made me realize how much I love the game. I can easily recall coming home to my mom, in tears because I wasn’t able to play the game that I love.
Since recovering from my injury, I have worked tirelessly at rebuilding my strength and skill and surpassing my own goals.
Currently, I do not have a specific college or division in mind and distance is not a problem. I just want to be on the field, improving my skills with a softball family I can depend on, while pursuing my future early education professional dreams.
Thank you for taking time to read my statement.
