One of the things I most love about softball is the concept of team. It's like a mini family. And like a family, it's important to work hard for each other. I'm not afraid of hard work- whether in athletics or academics. I started my high school course load in the 7th grade. I became a varsity sprinter in winter track as a freshman. I routinely work beyond my regular softball practices with hitting instructors and strength and conditioning coaches. I’m always looking to improve myself and thereby improve the team.
Softball has been a part of my life for so many years, that I can't imagine life without it. If I didn't play in college, a piece of me would be missing. Some of my best friends have come form my softball teams. I believe that if I play ball in college, I will naturally develop friendships with the other girls on the team. I would be there for them, and they would be a support system for me.
My coaches would describe me as focused, coachable, and a team player. My friends like to joke around and say that I "Mom" them. I remind them to do their homework, study for tests, and stay on track with their projects. However, they would say that I'm a little bit silly sometimes because I tend to break into Disney songs at any given moment. My parents would most likely say that I am intelligent, reliable, and helpful. My mom would say that I have a goofy sense of humor that I inherited from my dad.
My ideal college coach is someone who takes his/her job seriously, but one who doesn't take the fun out of the game. I want a coach that is encouraging. However, I want someone that will provide constructive criticism because I am always looking for ways to become a better player. I hope to find a program that develops team comradery and leaves drama off the field.
