Personal Statement

I first started softball in sixth grade, I loved it the minute I pick up a bat. My first year playing I had a lot of catching up to do.  I was on an experienced team and I had a great coach that took the time after each practice to work with me so that I could catch up to my teammates. It was hard work but I wanted to be a contributing member of my team and within a year I was at the same level as my team mates, and surpassed a few. This experience showed me that hard work, determination, and being coachable are key factors to success in sports and life.

I am now in my fifth year of travel softball and  in 11th grade at Centreville High School.  I have played on the Varsity team since my Freshman year and I have worked hard to earn my starting position on the field and in the batting order.    What makes me different from other players is that I have heart and I don't give up.   I love softball, and I put my all into every warm up, practice and game. Softball is more than just a sport to me, it has helped me to be more social and come out of my shell.  I was shy as a young girl because I had idiopathic epilepsy as a child.  I suffered from seizures, my body could not control heat, and I was always afraid that I would have a seizure in front of someone.  I grew out of the seizures and the minute I was given a clean bill of health I chose to play softball.  These minor setbacks made me work harder in school and on the field.   I believe in doing what coaches tell me to do  when they give me feedback , and apply those into my game.  A team needs to be strong and cohesive and I make sure I am contributing to that instead of causing any drama in the dugout.  I love playing softball on every level because of the friendships that I've created that I will carry throughout my life.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
