I have been playing softball since I was 10 years old. I had played soccer and competed in figure skating tournaments before this, but when I tried softball for the first time, I was hooked. After playing on a rec team for two years, I was offered a position on a travel team and have been enjoying the competition and development ever since. Since I am one of the faster girls on the field, I enjoy playing in the outfield, as I can contribute a lot by covering ground quickly to field balls and cover for my teammates.
Off the field I am a member of the Civil Air Patrol, where I have had some great experiences, including taking flights in a Cessna and being introduced to aerospace concepts. My passion is social justice issues, and I plan to study sociology with a concentration in education in college. I am happy that I have found an area of study that drives me to succeed.
I look forward to continuing playing softball in college because it provides an alternate environment for self-development, socialization, and competition. I think it is an important part of the next phase of my life.
