Cameryn Denhup '26 Recruiting Profile

Hi, I’m Cameryn Denhup! I’m in the class of 2026 and play for VA Glory National 18U - Willemssen. I started playing softball at 6 years old and have loved the sport ever since.  I’m right-handed so I started by batting from the right side of the plate, but at age 8 a great coach saw my speed and decided to give me a chance on a 10U national travel team if I agreed to learn how to slap hit. There were so many times I struckout and felt defeated early in that season, but I persevered and continued to work hard with the help of a slap hitting specialist. By the end of that season I had moved up from the very back of the lineup to batting 3rd. I continue to keep the fire going every year and always look to be on a team with a coach and players who push me to be better; I thrive when I am challenged.  I love being on teams that are inclusive and work hard to get better together. I’m shy at first, but once I start to open up with teammates and coaches I’m definitely more outgoing.  Coaches have said I am “loud on the field,” “have grit,” have moxie,” and am “a coach’s dream.”  I just say that I show respect for coaches and teammates, am very competitive, am dedicated and am willing to help my team on and off the field in any way I can. My goal is to play for a Division I college that fosters growth in their players, that has a good balance of athletics with academics and has fun.  Softball should always be fun!
