Hello! My name's Jayla, and I love to play softball more than anything. I know that sounds cheesy but it's true. The feeling of being on a field with eight of your best friends there with you is quite literally unattainable by any other activity or emotion. I crave bruises and cleat marks, I wear my dirt with pride, and I continuously give my all even if the odds are stacked against me because this is all I know. When I was 12 I went through a pretty serious spine surgery and was told that I could never catch again, and my chances of playing softball in general weren't looking too good either. Now, almost four years later, I play on my schools varsity softball team and happily claim catching to be my primary position. The obstacles i've endured have only made me realize what I'm capable of, and now that I know I can exceed beyond medical expectations I approach every game as if it was my last and try to give everything i've got. Off the field I attend Colgan High School in Manassas, Virginia in the Center of Fine and Performing Arts program with a concentration in Visual Arts. Once I graduate college, i'd like to pursue a career in aeronautics or architecture. When it comes to choosing my college, it would definitely help if they had some sort of engineering or architecture degree available but I am not limited to just visual arts. I also enjoy mathematics and have considered pursuing a career in business or finance. I plan to use college and it's available resources to help advance and prepare myself for what the future has to hold, on and off the field.
