Growing up with eight siblings, seven older and one younger, really helped me develop into the person I am today. I grew up in a very competitive family always trying to outdo each other. Being one of the youngest, I had to work the hardest to compete against my siblings and win. This helped me learn how to work on a team and always strive to do better. My father and brothers got me interested in playing softball from a very early age. My father has always been a baseball fanatic and my brothers played baseball growing up. Since then, I have always had a passion for the game and a desire to play the best I can for the team I am on. Playing softball taught me that through hard work and effort I can achieve anything I set my mind to. I plan to work hard through the rest of high school and through college to be the best version of myself I can be. I hope to contribute positively to society through my academics. One obstacle I have had to overcome was when I first went to a new team. At first I was rejected for a variety of reasons by the girls on the team. I was not accepted mainly because I was different. Instead of fighting back, I continued to play the game I loved. Eventually, my skill on the field won over a majority of the girls and my positive attitude and encouragement led the other girls to accept me. Without even changing who I was in the slightest, I became a leader on that team. The greatest obstacle I have needed to overcome is being out on injury for six months. I had rotator cuff surgery and I knew that with extra hard work I could overcome this obstacle and get back to doing what I love. I have grown to be an encouraging and energetic leader for my team and I hope to be the same for your team. Thank you for this opportunity and if given the chance I will not disappoint. God bless you!
