Personal Statement

My name is Sarah McCue, class of 2021.  I attend Flint Hill School, a private, co-ed college preparatory school of about 600 students located in Oakton, VA. I enjoy being a student-athlete at Flint Hill which has allowed me to get to know my teachers and frequently engage in classroom discussion while pursuing my passion for  softball at a high performance level. My favorite classes so far have been English, History, and Psychology. I like to be able to research topics, participate in debates, and apply what I learn to real life problems. I look forward to continuing to build my academic and extra-curricular resume.

As an athlete, softball is my passion. Ever since I began playing softball at age 6, I have loved the game. I have dedicated myself to becoming a better player and teammate, as well as giving everything I have during all practices and games.  I am coachable, a well-spoken leader who wants to see others grow, and an athlete who puts the team’s success over my own.  I work hard in the off-seasons to improve my batting and get into better shape. I started playing travel softball at age 10 and have focused almost solely on softball over the years. The various little league and travel teams I have played on and my many coaches have helped me progress and shaped me into the player I am today. I love playing second base and also enjoy the outfield. I have been flexible with positions based on the needs of my teams.

I hope to continue my softball career in college. I would like to find a school that is the right for me, where I can play at the highest level possible, contribute to the team, and study criminal justice.  I look forward to talking with you!
