Hey Coach,
My name is Cali Hinnant and I am a 5’6” 120lb player from Suffolk Virginia. I am a class of 2020 prospective graduate from King’s Fork High School. I have been playing softball since I was 9 and pitching since I was 10.
I started playing travel ball with Smithfield Galaxy Fastpitch when I was 12. I have been the team captain since that time. I was the starting pitcher and played shortstop or first base when not pitching. I hit in the third or fourth spot in the lineup. The team was 106-31-1 since I joined including two NSA State Championships and one WFC World Series Championship. I currently play for Orion Hunter Elite.
As for my school ball career thus far: As an 8th grader, I was the starting pitcher for my JV team with a record of 15-3. I pitched 91 innings and my key stats were: 129 strike outs, 11 walks, and an ERA of 0.53. I batted clean up and was the team captain. I was also voted team MVP. My Freshman year I was the varsity starting pitcher and our team was 13-10 and won our district. I threw 131 innings with 179 strike outs, 13 walks and a 1.64 ERA. I was voted 1st team all conference, all region and all area. I was named Captain and MVP. My Sophmore year, I threw 140 innings with 196 strikeouts 17 walks and an ERA of 1.13. I was team captain MVP, 1st team all conference, 2nd team all region and 1st team all area.
I think what I bring to a team is my “team first” attitude and relentless work ethic. I am the first to practice and the last to leave. I enjoy and work just as hard at practice as I do during the games. I love to support my teammates and get really excited when they succeed. I also understand that softball is a game of failure, so I try to pick them up when they stumble. During the game I use a lot of movement on my pitches to disrupt the hitter’s timing. I am still building on my speed but softball IQ and movement are my biggest assets at this time.
As far as school and post softball, I want to earn my degree in business and pursue my passion of being a professional makeup artist and business owner. I look forward to getting to know you and learning more about your school. Thank you for considering me.
