My name is Makayla Nicole Matheson, I am 17 years old and in the 12th grade. One thing you should know about me is how much I love the game of softball. Here is how it started, my parents started me in T-ball, and due to us living in a small town, I was unable to play softball until I was 9 years old. So my first experience was on the major team in Little League. This is when my love for the game started, it was the first time I felt part of a team. That is when I realized how important being a positive player makes such a large impact not only on a team but in life.
I strive to always be a positive person no matter the setting, always encouraging my friends and teammates to be the best they can be in whatever they face in life or on the field. What I mean by this is just like in softball, in life, we need to always support each other, listen to understand, help people be the best they can be, and remember we are part of a team, and when we work together we can achieve so much more.
A little bit about me in regards to how I perform on the field, I am a first base player who works hard to never let my team down by not stopping the runner at the base. I am a good hitter and base runner but above all else, I am my team's biggest fan. I am always thankful to any coach who gives up their time to help me be a better player. I understand they don't have to help me be a better player. This is such a valuable asset they have as a person to want to share the love of the game with me and help me be the best I can be.
I am a social butterfly but when it comes to softball I am in the zone I lock in as most people say but I get as many smart and safe plays as possible and just try to be the best I can be I play on all sorts of teams so I have had a lot of different coaches and every one has told me I always have a smile on my face and keep the positive energy on the field.
