My name is Mariah Jones, I am a 5’5 hardworking softball player. I fell in love with the game of softball at the young age of four and have been in love with it ever since. I am an athlete that enjoys learning how to grow the knowledge and skills of the game. My greatest accomplishment from playing softball is winning the “Wounded Warrior” tournament in Kent, Washington with my select softball team; WA Freedom 18U Fahsholtz. Before the tournament I had been in a funk where I decided to practice more frequently to get back to my groove and it all paid off in that tournament, I can tell my coach was excited and very proud of my hard work and dedication. Another great accomplishment I had was being just a freshman and being selected for the “Honorable Mention” award and being able to play on the varsity team.
Knowing that I can play at a collegiate level makes me fall more and more in love with the game and it only drives me to work even harder. Also, knowing that when I step on that field for the first time that, I will be the first in my family to ever play a sport at the collegiate level. Softball runs in my blood from my grandma, parents, aunts, uncles, siblings and cousins all played but they never got the chance to play or make it into a college. When I got to the age to be recruited my whole family jumped right on board and did any and everything they could to help me reach my goal as a young softball player to play at a collegiate level.
Academics wise I am currently a 4.0 student and my favorite subject in school is mathematics. Mathematics is my favorite subject because I am great with numbers and I can gladly say I get that from my father Geronimo Jones. I would like to go to a school with amazing mathematics and veterinary programs. From having to choose which school I would like to attend, I am more open minded about the different colleges and hope to find the right one that fits for me. The size or location of the school I do not mind as long as I get a good education and get to play the sport I love I would be more than happy to be anywhere. My dream and goal is to play in the Olympics as an inspired young athlete and to do that I need to keep my hard work and dedication on and off the field. In all, softball made a big difference in my life in such a positive way I want nothing more than to make this into my career.
