My name is Selena and I grew up on a small reservation in north central Wisconsin called the Menominee Indian Reservation. Our reservation lacks many sports activities for youth, but when my mom noticed my love for the ball, she got me into a travel league and that’s where it all started. I practiced from sun up to sun down, and quickly realized that softball was a part of my soul. I love the game, I love the intensity it brings and I love to compete. Originally, I started out as a pitcher and had great success. I still pitch on occasion but due to an injury, I do not pitch as much. Shortstop is another favorite spot of mine, however, by whim, my high school team needed a catcher this year and thus began my love for that spot as well. I’ve been told, I am amazing at it and should have been catching my entire softball career. Morale of the story, I will excel no matter where I am placed because I play hard and practice hard. When I’m batting, I’m typically in one of the power spots, due to my strength with the bats. You’ll see in my video both my throwing and bat speed are high, but as with any great player, I have my ups and downs. I am a competitor and softball runs through my veins
