Delaney Granger '23 Recruiting Profile

Hello

My name is Delaney Granger and I am currently a sophomore at Lincoln High School in Manitowoc, WI.  My passion is softball and especially catching, which I have been doing for the last 7 years.  Due to Covid-19 my Freshman year of high school softball was canceled, however I would have been on the Varsity team as a catcher.  Along with playing softball, I play high school basketball and have played basketball since 4th grade.  During my 2 years of high school basketball I have played on both Varsity and JV.

I have not always been the starting catcher or even on the best travel team, however this has taught me resilience and made me worker harder to prove everyone wrong.  Not being selected to the best travel team really made me dedicated to improve myself has a catcher and teammate.  

I believe I am a hard worker. My favorite quote is "the only place success comes before work is in the dictionary."  During basketball season I would have a 2 hour practice, eat dinner and do homework in the car on the way to my catching or hitting lesson an hour away.  I maintain a 3.5 grade point average. In addition, I work a few hours every week at a local coffee and ice cream shop. 

Along with being a Varsity softball player I am one of the player representatives on the SAAC (Student Athletics Advisory Committee). I was selected to represent my team and teammates on this school wide committee. 

I hope to pursue a degree in kinesiology with aspirations to eventually be an athletic trainer or athletic director. I would welcome an opportunity to play softball at the collegiate level. I believe my strong work ethic in addition to my athletic and academic abilities would make me a good addition to your softball program.
