Softball has been an important part of my life since I have been able to throw a ball. Softball has taught me many things throughout the years. It has taught me about teamwork and what it means to be part of a team. When I moved back to Wisconsin from Florida, my local team didn’t have very much pitching depth, so I took it upon myself and learned how to pitch, to help out my team. I started with watching as many YouTube videos as I could find on drills and techniques, once my parents realized I was serious about it, they helped me find a pitching coach to work with. I also am willing to try out and learn new positions when my team needs a position filled. I consider myself a true student of the game and want to know the responsibilities of all the positions. I went from being a second baseman as my primary, to short stop to currently learning to be a third baseman. I consider myself a true utility player as over the past 3 years, I have started games in every position except for catcher in tournaments.
Softball has also taught me about hard work off the field too. I broke and dislocated my elbow in strength and conditioning class in middle school and needed surgery, luckily just bone damage and not ligaments, also lucky that it was in November. I needed to put in the extra work through all the physical therapy and was able to get cleared to play in the spring without missing a game. Working with all of the different doctors, it has inspired me to go to school to be a physical therapist so I can help other athletes that go through injuries get back on the field. I work hard in the classroom.
I am currently a sophomore at Triton College in Chicago. I will graduate in May of 2024 with an Associates in Exercise Science with the plan to continue my education at a University and get a degree in Physical Therapy. During my softball career at Triton I have played all over the field. I started as a second and third basemen, while also playing short and first on occasion. At the end of my freshman year I moved to the outfield. So far this year I’ve played both outfield and second base.
I know with my versatility, willingness to adapt and learn as much as I can, I will be a great asset for any team that I am lucky enough to play for next.
