My name is Olivia Smith and I live in Casper, Wyoming. I will graduate in 2023 from Kelly Walsh High School. I am a catcher and a third baseman. I started my journey of playing softball for the recreational team in my town for three years. I have now been playing competitive travel ball for 7 years with the Casper Rebels and Wicked 307. I also played in the inaugural season for high school softball in Wyoming . Other extracurricular activities I participate in are playing in my school orchestra, competing in judo and also volunteering to coach the younger students in judo and wrestling . For the last five years I have participated on the wrestling team at the schools that I have attended. I have also volunteered at my church by doing bible school, alter-serving and summer camps. Qualities that make me a good candidate for a college team is that I have a very strong work ethic, I am a team player and put the needs of the team above my own. I also feel that I am a coachable athlete. I am willing to learn positions that I do not already know and I am willing to put in the extra time that is needed. As a catcher I believe it is important to show leadership and leading by example. I think it is very important to be flexible with every situation you are put in. I’ve learned to let the mistakes go, but let them fuel my fire to work harder and to not let the same mistake happen again. What makes me different from other recruits is that I am focused on my future and will be giving back to my community. I am a tri-sport athlete while also participating in a lifting class three days a week from 6:30 - 7:30am and then go to school for about seven hours. I already know how to manage a busy schedule with sports, school and training. I believe that one of the best things about softball is the family that you build from the long car rides, rain delays, team dinners, and playing the game we all love. My goals and aspirations for my college career is to graduate with a master’s and/or doctorate's degree in Physical Therapy or Athletic training. While working on my college degree I want to pursue my dream of playing at the collegiate level. Thank you for your time and consideration.
