Being in a state that does not have high school softball has influenced me a lot. We moved from Nebraska to Wyoming when I was 10 and found out that Laramie didn’t have competitive softball. I ended up playing first in Cheyenne, WY and then in Fort Collins, CO. I wanted to be on these travel teams so I could keep improving my skills. Having to travel over an hour just for practice has made me increase my commitment level. When I was seven my family moved in with my grandmother because she was sick. I had already played softball, but became more interested in it because the town we moved to did not offer the other sports I had previously played.
I have learned from softball that I am a team player and work well with others. Softball has taught me leadership and sportsmanship. I have also learned that I am a very competitive person. I strive to get the best out of myself and my teammates. I want to keep my grade point average above a 3.5 for high school and take as many math and science classes as I can. My anticipated major for college is Engineering because I love math and science.
In 10U I had a coach tell me that I was too small to be a catcher. We moved to Wyoming the next year and I started catching because they needed a catcher and I loved it. A lot of people I meet at first think that I am an introvert, but once I get to know them they soon realize I am not as shy as I first appear. I run track and am a fairly fast sprinter. I use my speed in the other sports I play.
