My name is Samiya Steele. I am 17 years old. I enjoy hanging out with my teammates, creating memories, and bettering myself. I love listening to slam poetry and music. I also enjoy just reading poetry, in general. I would describe myself as a very caring, hardworking, funny, and sarcastic person. I tend to always put people before myself; I am the type of person that makes sure everyone I love is okay before I focus on myself. I am a very selfless person and will always help where I can. I like to draw and paint and I love to eat seafood. I also love watching movies. As a versatile student athlete, I plan to earn a bachelor's degree in nursing. If I end up deciding to go another route, I want to earn my degree in entrepreneurship. My ideal athletic experience would be one where I could make an impact in my collegiate career, hopefully as a freshman. I have played with the varsity team at my high school since my freshman year and we have won state every year that I have been there. This makes me aware of all the work that has to be put in for you to succeed. I strive to be an impact player and am always trying to find a way to help my team win no matter what it is. Basketball hasn’t always been the only sport that I have played; I ran track, played golf and softball, and I was on a swim team. I played softball for about six years then I decided I wanted to try basketball. I instantly fell in love with the sport. I’ve been playing basketball since 7th grade and have always been a leader on my team. When it comes to basketball, I’m very competitive; I don’t like to lose and I always want to do what is best for my team. Basketball not only has taught me so many great things, but it has become my getaway
