I am a Freshman in high school. I have always felt athletic, worked at being athletic and when I fell short, worked harder to get where I needed to be. I played volleyball since I was young but did not try out for basketball until my 6th-grade year. I did not make the team the first year. This is where I believe I learned about working hard and fighting for what I want to be in sports and in life. I worked hard through the summer showing commitment and dedication and they moved me onto the team. After that, I became a starter and was moved up to play both the middle school and Varsity teams during my 8th-grade year. I am very dedicated to sports and the lessons it teaches me but I also stay very committed to my academics. I have maintained high grades, belong to the Junior Honor Society, had the highest grade point average in mathematics in my class and am in Honors Geometry. I believe my dedication to both sports and academics is one of the key factors to consider when choosing me for your school.
My athleticism continues to improve. I am considered the best defensive player on the team. There may be games where my points may not add up to be much but I will guarantee that my defensive skills shined through. I have speed and endurance and my defensive skills have contributed to the success of our team.
My core values are also a key factor. My faith, commitment, and work ethics can be proven through my improvement in sports, dedication to stay focused and progressing both during the season and off-season. This hard work takes time but I am able to stay focused on my education and place my education at the top of my list.
I have always been interested in the medical field and although I am only in 9th grade I find Sports Medicine to be very interesting and something I would like to pursue. The school is offering a class in Sports Medicine next year and I'm very excited to take the class.
I am committed to a successful future. I have the drive and maturity already to know the choices I make now will affect my future. Whichever college chooses me will have a dedicated, hard-working individual who knows how to be a team player on and off the court.
Thank you,
Chelsea
