Personal Statement

My name is Mackenzie Nielsen and I’m a 5’10 shooting guard with a 4.0 GPA that plays for the Sunrise Mountain High School Mustangs.

I have been playing basketball since I was 9 years old, the thing I love most about it is I can have fun/compete while also learning lessons that will help me my whole life.  Some of those lessons are responsibility, teamwork/respect, work ethic and overcoming adversity.

I put these lessons to use in my academics and student government as well, I always complete my school work to the best of my ability and if I don’t get the result, I am looking for I will figure out how to get a better result the next time.

My parents who have been very influential in my life have told me I’m a late-bloomer when it comes to sports and with that I have learned to keep working hard, take every opportunity as a learning experience and push myself to get the most out of my skills.

My coaches have told me I’m a very skilled offensive player, have the potential to be an elite level shooter and very coachable. I continue to work on my overall game as I realize the need to be a complete basketball player.  I have been complimented on my basketball IQ, leadership skills and attention to detail. Something basketball wise I am proud of is I would consider myself a “winner”, meaning the teams I have been a part of have had a lot of success.

I would love to attend a college that continues to challenge me academically and athletically and has a “family” feel, my family preaches living life to the fullest and that is what I want out of my time at college.  I want to be a role model for my 3 sisters and show them the right way to do things as well as being an asset and positive contributor to my university.

Thank you for taking the time to look at my profile.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
