Growing up, I didn’t have much nor did we have a lot of money and I watched as my mom struggled trying her best to raise us. I have three siblings with disabilities. My older brother is autistic. My twin younger sisters have many medical problems. One of my twin sisters had a feeding tube when she was only three months old. Even though my mom is very intelligent, she struggled when it came to watching us be upset. I was twelve years old helping my mom with feeding tubes and making sure my brother wasn’t running off or having a melt down. This was the time that I realized that I wanted to be a nurse but not just any nurse a pediatric nurse.
My mom is the one that first put a ball into my hands. At first, I was doubtful but then basketball became my first love. I never want to stop playing. When I put my mind to something then I can achieve anything.
My mom has always been my biggest fan. I don’t think I could ever thank her enough.Besides being there for my sister,I watched my mom get not only one degree but two while still being there every night to take care of us and be there no matter what. I hope to make her as proud of me as I am of her.
