From the age of 5 up until 8th grade I played competitive softball and played pee-wee basketball with almost all of my time focused on softball. But throughout that time my love for basketball grew until I decided in 8th grade to start playing AAU basketball. I lacked the experience that most of my teammates and opponents had and I was also much smaller. This motivated me to get in the gym and perfect my fundamentals so I could make up for these weaknesses. It gave me the drive and determination to be the best player I could be, which I still have today.
My sophomore year I became the point guard of my team. I was put in a position that I had never been in before: to be the leader of the team. By being put in that position I learned what it truly takes to be a leader. It also taught me the importance of teamwork and holding each other accountable. I'm looking for a program and school that will challenge me academically and push me to be the best possible basketball player and person I can be. I believe I have the character, work-ethic, determination, resiliency, leadership skills, and talent to be successful at the next level.
