The highlight of my career was being selected as the all around player of the Kiwanis Classic Tournament. I started playing basketball in kindergarten through the winter and summer camps held at Buchanan High School. I didn't get too serious about basketball until seventh grade. I quit competitive tap and jazz dancing and began spending my extra time in the gym trying to get better. One of my coaches challenged me when she said I was the weakest player on the team and that I wouldn't get much playing time. This lit a fire in me to become the best player I could be and to never be labeled the weakest player on any team I played for.
One area of growth in my athletic career is to have confidence in my abilities as a player. Having confidence in myself leads to my coaches and teammates having that same confidence in me. I strongly believe in being a well-rounded athlete. This means that my educational goals are just as important as my athletic goals. Being a multi sport athlete has given me a great perspective on competing and being the best teammate I can be. I was selected as a captain by my teammates and I take that leadership role very seriously. I believe my leadership role on and off the court is preparing me for my career as a student athlete.
