Hi, my name is Madison Dellner and I am a point and shooting guard on the varsity basketball team at Dana Hills High School. I joined the team my sophomore year after having played high school soccer, and I have started every game since. I am the team’s two-time returning defensive player of the year and a first-team all-league selection as a junior. I was named co-captain for my senior season. Last year, as a junior, I led the team in assists and steals, setting the team’s single-game and season steals records, while averaging 7 points a game. This year, I am averaging just under 10 points and 10 rebounds per game, as well as 5 steals, and was named to the all-tournament team at the "Mariner Mayhem" tournament in northern Orange County, California. I am a good shooter with excellent range and, since last summer, I have worked extensively with a skills trainer (4-5 workouts/week, in addition to regular practice) on my shooting, finishing at the basket and ball handling. After my junior year, realizing that basketball was the sport I really love, I gave up club soccer and joined the Cal Sparks South club/AAU team and was named to its national select team. Off the court, I am an hard-working student with a 4.5 GPA and have been recognized as a Dana Hills Scholar Athlete every year. Finally, I work hard on my speed, strength and explosiveness, working out with a trainer several times each week. I truly love the game of basketball and hope for the opportunity to play as a college athlete.
