Personal Statement

Hello Coaches,

Thank you so much for your time. I am a Class of 2025 shooting/combo guard from California looking for a rewarding academic/athletic environment.  Since I consider myself a Student-Athlete in the truest sense, I believe in giving my all to both of my passions:  academics and basketball.

In my freshman, sophomore, and junior years, I was a three time Varsity starter, a three time All-League selection, and received All-Tournament honors twice. This past junior year I also served as one of the captains and earned First Team All-League honors while averaging double figures.

In addition to my steady scoring, I also take pride in my defensive game. I am tasked with guarding the best players on opposing teams and was named my team’s Defensive Player of the Year.  My plus minus is one of the best on the team and I never hesitate to take a charge. I am a team player first and foremost, whether it means hyping up my teammates on the court or tutoring them off the court when they need help in a class. I play to help my team win.

As a student with a 4.9 GPA in STEM heavy courses and a near perfect ACT score of 35, I am also 100% locked into my studies and academic activities, which include six AP and Honors classes this year and Engineering extracurriculars.  Taking on this kind of academic schedule while also competing at a high level is an example of my focus, self-direction, and commitment.

Last year, my AAU team played a tough schedule including against some of the top 17U EYBL teams in the nation before my junior year. While it was challenging, I know that facing challenges, including playing against multiple McDonald's All-Americans, makes me better.  I am looking forward to the viewing season this year and will again be playing with the 17U SoCal Vipers at viewing events such as EIE Spring Invitational, Arizona TOC Spring Classic, and NIke Chicago TOC.

Given the joy I receive from academics and basketball, I hope to find a college environment where high academics are valued and a team first culture is present.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and view my profile.
