I live, breathe and eat basketball as they say. Since the moment I first picked up a basketball, I fell in love with the sport and became a student of the game. I read every stat, article, and book I can get my hands on and watch old highlights for inspiration. My free time is limited but any free moment I do have is spent at the park down the street putting up shots. I have a little brother with severe autism, who’s completely dependent on us for all his needs. My dad is out of town for work most of the time so I help care for him. Having someone depend on you for everything is both equally humbling and exhausting. We share a room so I’m often up multiple times throughout the night helping my mom calm him down. He’s my best friend and inspiration for always pushing myself harder. I was blessed with a lot of abilities he’ll never have and I don’t take any of it for granted. You’ll never find me without my ball, dribbling down the halls walking from class to class, or spending lunch trying to get a drill right. I'm a perfectionist on the court and in the classroom. School doesn’t always come easy to me but I do what I need to, to ensure I maintain straight As. Same goes for basketball, I spend hours on my own, working on drills until it becomes muscle memory. I'm not afraid of hard work and I try to always be a team player. I'll always make the extra pass so that my team's taking the best shot available. I would love to find a program that embodies all these values that would help me take my game to the next level. I'm undecided but leaning towards a degree in exercise science or athletic training. I would love to continue on in the field after my career is over.
